Cancellations and refunds

This page explains your right to cancel a booking, how to do it, and how and when we refund you. It forms part of our terms and conditions.

Last updated 23 October 2026

1. Your 14-day right to cancel

If you book a course with us online or by phone as a consumer (for your own use, not for a business), you have the right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason. This right comes from the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

The 14 days start on the day we confirm your booking by email.

2. How to cancel

Tell us clearly that you want to cancel before the 14 days end. You can:

  • email info@wartens.com with the subject line "Cancellation";
  • write to Wartens Ltd, 8 Lyon Road, Milton Keynes MK1 1EX; or
  • use the model cancellation form below (you do not have to).

Include your name, the email address you booked with and the course and start date. We will confirm by email that we have received it.

3. Your refund

If you cancel within the 14 days, we refund everything you have paid, including any deposit, without any fee, within 14 days of the day you tell us. We refund to the card or account you paid with, unless you agree to something else.

4. If your course starts within the 14 days

Cohorts start every Monday, so you may book a course that starts before your 14 days are up. In that case we can only start the course if you expressly ask us to; the booking page asks you to confirm this.

  • If you cancel after the course has started but within the 14 days, we refund what you paid minus a fair amount for the part of the course we have already provided up to the time you told us you were cancelling. That amount is worked out in proportion to the full course.
  • Once the course has been provided in full, you no longer have the right to cancel.

5. Cancelling after the 14 days

After the cancellation period you can still ask to cancel, or to move to a later cohort if seats are available. Please contact us as early as you can. If you cancel, these terms apply:

When you tell usWhat we refund
More than 14 days before your cohort startsEverything you have paid, minus £50 to cover administration
Between 7 and 14 days before your cohort startsHalf of what you have paid
Less than 7 days before your cohort starts, or after it startsNo refund

If we fill your seat with someone else, we refund what you paid minus £50, whenever you cancelled. These charges never apply to a cancellation within your 14-day cancellation period (sections 1 to 4).

6. If we cancel or change your course

If we cancel a cohort, or change its dates by more than 7 days, you can choose a full refund of everything you have paid or a place on another cohort at no extra cost. If a live session cannot go ahead because of a technical problem on our side, we will rearrange it.

7. Employers and business bookings

The 14-day right to cancel applies to consumers. If your employer or another business books and pays, the cancellation terms in section 5 and in our quote or invoice apply.

8. Free course certificates

Free courses cost nothing. A free course's certificate costs £19 including VAT. It is digital content: when you buy it you ask us to issue it straight away (or as soon as you pass the final exam, if you pay first), and you agree that your 14-day right to cancel ends once it is supplied. If you pay before passing and change your mind before it is issued, you can cancel within 14 days for a full refund. Once a certificate has been issued we do not refund it, except where it is faulty. If a certificate we issue has a mistake in it, such as your name, we will correct and reissue it free of charge.

9. Job simulations and the self-paced courses

A job simulation is digital content. The Job Simulation Certificate costs £14.99 and Premium costs £53.99, both including VAT. Premium includes the certificate, so if you have already bought the certificate you pay only the difference. When you buy either one you ask us to supply it straight away, and you agree that your 14-day right to cancel ends once it is supplied. If you cancel within 14 days before it has been supplied, we refund you in full. Once the certificate has been issued we do not refund it, except where it is faulty.

If digital content we supply is faulty, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: we will repair or replace it, and if we cannot, or it is not done in a reasonable time, we will refund you. The AI Module has its own cancellation terms in the AI Module terms.

The Siemens Module and the Allen-Bradley Module are self-paced digital courses that open as soon as you pay, with no deposit. You can cancel within 14 days of our booking confirmation for a full refund if you have not opened any lesson; once you open a lesson, your right to cancel the digital content ends, as you agree at checkout. The detail is in the Siemens and Allen-Bradley Module terms.

10. Your other rights

Nothing on this page affects your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 we must provide our courses with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong, tell us through our complaints procedure and we will put it right. For advice, contact Citizens Advice.
