Questions

About this course

What changed in ISO 9001:2026?
ISO 9001:2026 is a targeted update, not a rewrite: ISO says it puts greater emphasis on leadership, a culture of quality and ethical behaviour, and gives greater clarity on how to consider risks and opportunities. According to ISO, it also adds a new section that explains the intent of the requirements and adopts the latest Harmonized Structure, which makes it easier to combine with other management system standards. ISO published the new edition on 16 September 2026. A full module of this course covers the changes, and every clause module points out what 2026 changed.
Can a company still get certified to ISO 9001:2015?
Only for a limited time: from 31 March 2028, new and initial accredited certifications can be issued only to ISO 9001:2026. According to the transition guidance published by ISO's quality committee, ISO/TC 176, organisations already certified to ISO 9001:2015 must complete their transition by 30 September 2029, and the move can be made at a scheduled surveillance or recertification audit or at a separate transition audit. DNV reports that these mandatory transition requirements were set by Global ACI, the international accreditation body. The course includes planning a transition gap analysis.
What is ISO 19011 and is there a new edition?
ISO 19011 is the international guidance standard for auditing management systems such as ISO 9001, and its current edition is ISO 19011:2026, valid from 27 May 2026, which replaced the 2018 edition. Its published scope covers the principles of auditing, managing an audit programme, conducting management system audits and evaluating the competence of auditors, according to the Estonian Centre for Standardisation's listing of the standard. It gives guidance rather than requirements, so it is not something an organisation is certified to. This course teaches internal auditing to ISO 19011:2026, from the audit programme to the nonconformity report.
Who is this course for?
QA and QC engineers, supplier-quality and production engineers, quality coordinators, students and anyone asked to become an internal auditor. No auditing experience is needed.
Does it cover the new ISO 9001:2026?
Yes. ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026, and organisations certified to the 2015 edition have until 30 September 2029 to transition. A full module covers the changes, and every clause module points out what 2026 changed. Some video lessons were recorded for the 2015 edition and are used only where the content did not change; each module says so.
Is this a certified internal auditor or lead auditor course?
No. It is preparation. It is not an IRCA- or Exemplar Global-certified auditor course, and it does not give you an auditor qualification. It teaches the knowledge those courses examine and lets you practise auditing, so you can audit inside your own organisation or move on to a certified course with a head start.
Do I need to buy the ISO 9001 standard?
Not to take the course. The notes explain the intent of every clause in plain words. The text of ISO 9001 is copyright ISO, so the course does not reproduce it; if you will work with the standard, buy it from ISO or your national standards body.
Is the course really free?
Yes. Every module, the notes, the project and the final assessment. The only paid item is the certificate, if you want it.
What certificate do I get?
An EDWartens Certificate of Completion, issued when you pass the final assessment, with a number anyone can verify on our site. It is not an ISO, IRCA or Exemplar Global certificate, and EDWartens is not affiliated with ISO or any certification body.
How long does the course take?
About 15 hours of video lessons, notes and practice, taken at your own pace; the videos alone are about 9 hours. The optional project takes about 10 hours more.
What is the project?
A mock internal audit of a valve plant preparing for its ISO 9001:2026 transition: you build the audit programme, write the plan and a process-based checklist, log the evidence, write and grade the nonconformities, report, and verify the corrective actions. A complete sample pack shows each document.
