Jobseeker terms

Using the EDWartens job board, applying for jobs and joining the talent pool is free. We never charge jobseekers, and nothing depends on buying a course. We pass your application to the employer you choose. We are not the employer, and we do not promise a job or an interview.

In short

  • Free to you: no fees for finding work, no purchase needed.
  • You choose who sees your profile. You can hide it at once.
  • Vetted means skills evidence checked. It is not an identity or background check.
  • Never pay to apply, be shortlisted or for sponsorship. Report anyone who asks.

1. Who we are

EDWartens UK is a trading name of Wartens Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15262249), registered office 8 Lyon Road, Milton Keynes MK1 1EX. In these terms "we" means Wartens Ltd and "you" means a jobseeker using our job board, applications, talent pool or skill checks. Email us at info@wartens.com.

These terms sit alongside our privacy notice, the recruitment privacy notice and our acceptable use and content standards. Booking a course is covered by our terms and conditions.

2. Free to you, always

  • We never charge you for finding work. The job board, applying, the talent pool, the skill check and the Vetted badge are free to you.
  • Nothing here depends on buying a course, a certificate or anything else. You do not need to buy anything to apply, to join the talent pool or to be Vetted.
  • We never take a fee or commission from you for an introduction to an employer, and we never ask you to pay an employer.
  • The law for employment agencies (the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct Regulations 2003) forbids charging work-seekers for finding work. We follow it.
  • If you are asked to pay anyone to apply, be shortlisted, get an offer or be sponsored, do not pay. Tell us.

3. What we do and do not do

We:

  • show jobs. Some are posted directly by employers on our site. Others are listed from other sites and link to the original advert. We do not check every advert;
  • pass your application to the employer you choose, when you press Send;
  • offer an optional talent pool, where verified UK employers can find you if you are Vetted and choose to be visible;
  • offer an optional skill check and a Vetted badge, described on How we vet.

We do not:

  • employ you, find you temporary work or pay you. We are not the employer of anyone we introduce;
  • promise you a job, an interview, a shortlist or a salary;
  • check an employer's right-to-work duties for it, or check your right to work. Employers must do that before you start;
  • guarantee that an advert is accurate, still open or genuine, although we remove adverts that are reported to us and found to break our standards.

To the extent our services fall within the Employment Agencies Act 1973, we act as an employment agency and follow the Conduct Regulations 2003. The Fair Work Agency enforces them in England, Scotland and Wales, and has done since 7 April 2026 (checked 28 October 2026).

4. Your account

  • You must be 16 or over to create a free account, and 18 or over to buy a course, a certificate or a job simulation. The job board, applications and the talent pool are for people aged 18 or over.
  • Give accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
  • One account for each person. Do not pretend to be anyone else, and do not make a profile for someone else.
  • Your CV and profile are yours. You allow us to show what you choose to the people you choose, as set out in the recruitment privacy notice.

5. Applications and the talent pool

Applications

  • When you apply to a job on our site, the employer receives your name, email, phone number if you add one, the CV you choose, your answers, and your own statement about permission to work if you have set one. We show you this before you send.
  • From then the employer is responsible for your details under its own privacy notice. We keep a record of the application for 12 months.
  • For a job listed from another site, you apply on that site and its terms apply. We may note that you clicked through.
  • We never stop you applying because of your answers about permission to work or sponsorship.

The talent pool

  • Joining is your choice, with its own tick box and the wording you saw at the time. You can hide your profile at any time and it takes effect straight away.
  • Employers see a limited card: skills, courses, certificates, simulation results, your broad UK region, availability and your Vetted badge. They do not see your email, phone number, address, date of birth, photo or exact location. They see your name only if you choose to be named and the employer is verified.
  • We pass your details to an employer only when you apply to its job or accept its request to contact you. Your statement about permission to work is shown only then.
  • Recruitment agencies see your card only if you tick the separate box for agencies.

6. Vetting and skill checks

The skill check has 20 multiple-choice questions and one written scenario. Our system marks the questions. AI marks the scenario first, and a member of staff reviews the result before any Vetted badge is awarded. How we vet sets out the full standard, and AI transparency describes the AI use.

  • If you do not pass, you see feedback and can retake after a short wait. You can ask for a person to review the result, add anything you want us to consider, and appeal.
  • You can ask for adjustments, such as extra time, before you start. It never counts against you.
  • Vetted means we checked evidence of your skills. It is not an identity, reference, background, right-to-work or DBS check, and it is not a promise of a job.
  • We may remove a Vetted badge if the evidence turns out to be false or our standard changes. We tell you why, and you can appeal.

7. Right to work and sponsorship

  • You need the right to work in the UK before you start a job. The employer checks this, not us. A statement on your profile is your own statement and not a check.
  • A sponsorship label on a job means the employer says it holds a sponsor licence. It is not a promise of a job or a visa. The Home Office decides visas.
  • You never pay to apply, be shortlisted or receive a job offer. You should never pay for sponsorship. Check any employer on the Register of Licensed Sponsors, with our visa sponsor checker.
  • You never have to tell an employer your nationality.
  • More: Safe job search.

8. Your conduct

  • Be truthful in your profile and CV. Check every field the AI fills in before you save it.
  • Do not put health, religion or similar personal details in your CV unless a job needs them.
  • Follow the acceptable use and content standards: no harassment, hate, spam, impersonation, scraping, or asking an employer for money or documents.
  • Do not share the skill check questions or use someone else to answer them.

We may remove content, hide a profile or suspend an account that breaks these terms or the law. We tell you why unless the law stops us, and you can appeal at info@wartens.com. Report anything that worries you with our report form.

9. Ending your account

  • You can close your account at any time in Settings, or by emailing us.
  • Your talent-pool profile is hidden straight away and pending contact requests lapse.
  • Applications you already sent stay with the employers you sent them to. They are responsible for those details and you can ask them to delete them.
  • We keep our records of introductions for 12 months, as the law for employment agencies requires, and our consent records for 6 years. See the recruitment privacy notice.
  • We may close an account that breaks these terms or the law. We will tell you why unless the law stops us.

10. Our responsibility to you

  • Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, or liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
  • We must provide our services with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
  • We are not responsible for what employers decide or do, for adverts that other people write, or for jobs that are filled, changed or removed.
  • We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.

11. Complaints, changes and law

If you are unhappy, use our complaints procedure. We acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, and report an employment agency to the Fair Work Agency.

We may change these terms. We give you at least 30 days' notice of a change that makes them worse for you, by email or when you sign in. The date at the top is the date of this version (28 October 2026). These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
